FITS OF DEPRESSION: Issue One. December, 2026

This project was originally conceived of under the title Warning Signs and was a collaboration between Alex Deets and Galina Fecher in 2008. Prior to Flecher’s death, we collaborated on a plan to create a series of portraits of friends in their ‘sad clothes.’ This concept was based on a prior discussion wherein we found we both noticed interesting changes that happened to how we dress ourselves when struggling with our mental health. We hoped to illustrate how subtle changes like garment selections can be a tool for understanding our own emotional states.
